Air Filters
#28
Im using k&n and its pretty good so far, no problems yet *knocks on wood*. I noticed that the engine is 'lighter' and its more willing to shift up a gear sooner and rev lower. There is a whole debate whether K&n filters are good or bad. Check out this video on youtube. what they pretty much said is that over oiling will NOT damage the MAFs.

I was told by a Mercedes dealer mechanic that Mann filters are make the OEM filters and are exactly the same things minus the Mercedes logos. He showed me the two side by side and they sure looked alike other then logos and color. I got my from Amazon

I was looking at parts.com before and the only list filters for the 350 and the 550. Based on that I would assume the 500 and 550 share the same filters. I could be wrong though. The main difference that I can see with the kevlar tubes is they are much bigger than the plastic one and allow more air.

Do you know which cars have the kevlar tubes? is it from a 550 or a 55?

Thanks Andy, much help.
Do you know what MB's come with the kevlar tubes? (does my 550 have it?). And lastly, the kevlar are the ones on the right correct?
