C63 AMG.....COUPE?
Found this article today on BenzInsider C63 AMG Coupe to enter power war soon

Guess what, people? Mercedes-Benz is now planning to offer an AMG version of the upcoming C-Class Coupe. Coming from AMG insiders themselves, the company is planning on making this one a direct rival of the BMW M3, as well as the Audi RS5. It looks like there’s more hatred than it seems between these fellow German premium car players. And now that the performance war is in its early rounds, Mercedes-Benz will be calling this model the C63 AMG Coupe. But it’ll supposedly be available only late next year.
Just to squash all the rumors of cannibalization, Mercedes-Benz will not apply its downsizing trend on the future AMG variants of the upcoming C-Class. This means that they won’t be hacking the 6.2 liter naturally-aspirated V8 in place of their new 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8. Although their new engine offers a great deal more in terms of efficiency, the old engine just seems to a be a lot more appropriate when going up against Bimmers and Audiphiles.
Here’s more. According to AMG insiders, the 6.2 liter V8 N/A is going to be a lot more powerful than what is currently available. We’re talking around 457 to 480 horsepower with AMG’s Performance Package, as compared to the M3’s 420 hp and the RS5’s 450 hp. It’s as good as it gets, baby. Power’s going to be directed by a seven-speed multi-clutch tranny. That ought to keep its rivals at bay.

Very happy to see the boys at MB slide a 'true' C class coupe into the line up, I'm not a fan at all of the CLC. The E coupe is fantastic, a little brother on the C side is going to make for a nice selection.

well the c class has grown on me on sedan. but as kevwood said, the c class coupe will make a nice addition to the line up. i wonder whats going to happen to the e coup tho. i thought that was their entry level amg coupe.
nonetheless, still a nice car.
lol kinda off topic but i always love watching the c63 vs m3 vs rs4 ep on top gear.

I would much rather the new 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8 than the 6.2 liter. It seems more mod friendly. The bimmers have been raising the boost for the 335's to make them as quick as the M3 or faster and thats with a V6. Just imagine a V8 with turbos modded in that little c class. That thing would be a monster!

"If you really know your luxury cars, you’ll easily be able to discern a stark performance difference between European premium cars such as Mercedes-Benz, and JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) cars such as Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Heck, you’ll even notice a difference between European and American premiums. In what aspect? Well, the tranny mostly.
Mercedes-Benz cars exemplify true German engineering at its finest in their transmission systems. And it just keeps getting better. To keep up with their new line of powerful and fuel-efficient engines, the company is looking to upgrade their transmission technology. There are already cars that feature eight-speed automatic transmissions, so Mercedes-Benz looking to set a new standard—nine-speed gearbox technology.
It takes a lot of horses and torque to fully utilize all nine speeds, though. That’s why such a development would likely be seen on Mercedes-Benz models with hefty engines. Still, you can seek comfort in the fact that an unnamed senior Mercedes-Benz engineer did confirm that the technology is now under development.
You could say that Mercedes-Benz is looking beyond engine technology to up their emission standards. A nine-speed transmission would allow the engine to operate at lower rpm while still maintaining, or even increasing, the vehicle’s speed. Thus, less emissions will be produced as compared to a car cruising in fifth gear at 4,000 rpm. And with more gear transitions, shifting is going to be a lot smoother.
Sounds very promising, don’t you think?"

Some more info on that monster......

"Performance, fuel economy, less emissions—is it too much to ask for all three? Not quite, and Mercedes-Benz makes sure that their loyal customers get what they deserve. Their latest engine, the new AMG 5.5-liter biturbo engine, combines all three characteristics and puts them in one neat package. AMG’s new engine delivers up to 563 horsepower and 664 lb-ft torque.
With all that power comes with a host of cutting edge technologies to make it one of the most advanced engines in the world. It features direct gasoline injection, twin turbochargers, air-water intercooling, plus Mercedes-Benz patented Controlled Efficiency stop-start function. Excited? Well, you got to wait around until November this before you see it under the hood. Most likely, it’ll be a 2011 AMG CL that’s going to be flaunting this new engine.
The trend that Mercedes-Benz is following is definitely one that seeks to improve efficiency with smaller displacements. Case in point is the new 5,461 cc engine that 747 cc smaller than the AMG 6.3-liter V8. The thing is, even with a lower displacement, Mercedes-Benz was able to bump up output of the new engine to exceed that of its ancestor. Throw the AMG Performance Package into the mix and you get as much as the aforementioned performance figures. It’s torque curve will virtually blow away other engines in the same power class.
The new engine boasts a 27-percent improvement in fuel economy. Considering that it’s a biturbo motor that can outperform the naturally aspirated V8, it’s one hell of a wonder. This is definitely one of the strongest selling points of CL63 AMG."

I like the C class that I have but find it a just bit small, the reason I moved up to the CLK. I would have loved to be driving a E coupe AMG but life is life. I won't go back to a C class though, even though I think this new C63AMG coupe is awesome - a thousand times better than the CLC (I don't know if you guys have them in the US, C class hatchback).

Before I bought my CLK here in Dubai I went to the MB showroom to price out an E63AMG coupe - there isn't one. No AMG E coupe, period. The manager told me that I could get a E63AMG 4 door or special order a E550 copue. Other than that, CLS or CL AMG's and of course the C63 4 door.

The new C class hatchback coupe is called the CLC, it's got the updated exterior styling but the interior is still the W203 style...
Lot's of young ex-pat wives have them here in Dubai.

I wonder if MB is going to market the new C coupe as a 'replacement' for the CLK? I've heard (rumors of course) that the CL name plate could be dropped and re-badged as a S class coupe as well.

I'll ask at the MB dealer today when I stop by, they seem to have a really good insight as to what is going on - great market here for the latest & greatest.
