Error code p220a?

I would like some input please. I have a 2003 CLK 320, it is stuck in 2nd gear (limp home mode) limiting me to about 40kph. It is also a bit rough sometimes when shifting between park, reverse and drive but I never experienced the problem where it wouldn't shift or be stuck in neutral.

Mechanic pulled the codes to reveal p220a "the speed comparison of Y3/6n2 to Y3/6n3 is implausible".

I told the mechanic about the conductor plate needing replacement, but he dismissed that saying the car needs a new transmission. Then he checked the fluid and there is no presence of damage by coolant in the transmission. He says it is likely the "valve body", which will run me about 1000 dollars at the stealership. Does anyone know the part number of this? What is the purpose for the valve body?

I would appreciate some advice and will keep you posted for anyone else experiencing this issue, thanks!

So far, estimated 1000 to 1500 dollars for the valve body plus 375 dollars for 5 hour labor.

Sound to me the oil is leaked onto the tranny connector. Do a search, there's alot info about the oil leak these issues.

$75/hr isn't bad for the labor charge.

Was supposed to just get a whole new tranny and pay around 3k, but after resetting the codes the car runs fine now (no limp home mode). just going to check the conductor plate soon.

Replaced conductor plate, flushed tranny, replaced gasket and filter, changed adapter that goes from tranny harness to the conductor plate, transmission shifts nice and smooth now. I didn't try manually shifting using steptronic though.

2003 w211 e500 Sport
W211 e500 transmission issue

Hi everyone, I bought a 2003 e500 Sport Edition.
it was in limp mode so only $2700 for the car.
Replaced the conductor plate and filter and connector plug and gasket. New fluid. Cleared codes. Drove great 2 weeks. Then i saw a little trans fluid in the driveway.
Ordered another kit as i inspected the connector plug was Leaking and it ran along the pan making it seem to be the gasket. 2nd replacement done but this time i for some reason unplugged the battery. Now it didn't clear the codes and engine cranks up and runs for only a second or two. What did i do wrong?? 😕🙄
