Offset makes me crazy.

Offset makes me crazy.
Hello,
I'm kind of a new guy here and about to change the wheels.
I've searched and figured out that clk's recomended offsets are ET30 front, ET35 rear.
but I'm not really cleared about spacers.
I'm trying to get wheels like:
Front: 18x8.5 offset:25mm
Rear: 18x9.5 offset:28mm
Actually:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-x-...0628#vi-ilComp
Do I need 5mm spacers for front and rear?
I didn't modify anything to my car, so it would be ok w/o spacers?
I know a lot of questions about wheels and offset, but it also makes me crazy right now.
so, if the wheels' offset are ET25 or ET40 for front, both of them need spacers? I really don't get it.........
My 18'' wheels had been cracked recently, so I need to get wheels asap.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome. You should be ok with those offsets. You only need spacers when you have to push the wheel out making the offset lower. You would need a lower offset because of your brake setup or to have the wheels sit flush with the fender.

Thanks Dyno!
I've learned lots of things from your posts.
now I'm interested in lowering my car and more!
So, if the offsets are lower than ET30(F) and ET35(R), any wheels are fine?
I only need spacers for high offset wheels, right?
Then, do I need shoter bolts for them?
Thanks again!

NP. With your brakes, you really don't have to worry about having a low offset. The question is if you would like the wheels to sit flush with the fender. Take my wheels for example, they came with ET35 all around. With my stock 320 brakes I had no problems. When I upgraded to my BBK I had to install 10mm spacers for the wheels to clear, so now I am at ET25 all around. The bolts depend on the wheels you get, but you would most likely have to get new ones.
Here are a couple pics with and without spacers. The first 2 are without the 10mm spacers and the last 2 are with them.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I am currently running 19x8.5/9.5 with PSS9's and 10mm spacers all around. My wheels came with a ET35 so with the 10mm spacers they are ET25. I really don't have rubbing problems. Aside from my front tire sometimes rubbing against the front plastic liner on sharp turns. I am running 235s in the front.
The specs that you mentioned above should work fine. With the CO's, you could fine tune the height if you do encounter problems. As far as tires, it's really personal preference. Your location also make a difference in tire selection. Do you have awesome weather all year round, or are you like us 4 season guys?

2006 CLK 500
Hey guys,
SInce we are on the topic I just had a question about my car. I have a 2006 CLK 500 and I will be lowering the car abouts 2 inches in the rear and an inch in the front with H&R Springs. My only concern is does anybody know what size spacers I would need to have the rims sticking out a bit? Im currently running the stock 17' amgs.
