Ticking -rattling on deceleration when cold
I have an 06 CLK 550 convertible with 25k miles. We got it 2 years ago with 5k miles on it, certified from an MB dealer.
This morning, I noticed a ticking or rattling noise from up front when the car is decelerating at slow speeds ... say, accelerate to 20 mph, then take your foot off the gas, no brake, and it will rattle or tick rhythmically. Seemed to go away when the car got warmed up.
Any ideas?

Dollars to doughnuts it the lifters. Yes, OHC engines still use a 'lifter'.
