Question Car Won't Start -- No Power

I drove home from work on Friday in my CLK 430 - parked it in the driveway like always -- didn't drive it on Saturday then Sunday morning was going to pick up groceries. Electronic Key wouldn't open the car (fob has new batteries and works properly). Used the metal key inside the fob to gain entry - put key in ignition but could not turn key to start engine. No power in the vehicle at all. Checked all fuses under the hood -- all seem fine. Eventually got into the trunk (thanks to this forum) -- hooked up battery to neighbor's vehicle, was able to turn ignition key but engine would not turn over. Any ideas as to why car would be fine one day and totally dead 2 days later with no indication of what is wrong?

Sounded like your battery completely dead !!!! You won't be able to start if the battery is completely dead. Just get a new battery and your problem will be solve.

Ditto. Sometimes a jump just doesn't do that great. If you really want to make sure it's the battery, simply pop in a friend's for a sec and see if it works normal. Chances are it will.

Samething is happening too me. But too lazy to change the battery. My car has not been driven in a month. Since i have no time cause of work. When I try to turn it on the clock starts to turn 360 none stop. I heard if you switch the battery all my memory and will be lost and the car won't start till its reprogrammed. Is this true?

I'm saying if I have the new battery in the car. Do I still need to reprogram? Cause i heard all the info will be lost when you have a new battery.

I just changed the battery in my C class last night, old one out and new one in (connected) within 10 seconds (used cables to keep a constant power supply while changing the batteries around) - didn't lose any radio presets or comfort settings. If you leave the battery disconnected for a while then you'll have to reprogram those items, nothing to do with starting the car mate.

Update to CAR WON'T START - CLK 430

Klinh and MyBigBenz - you two were spot on with your recommendation. My neighbor a couple of doors down was kind enough to let me use his battery from his Mercedes to see if my car would start -- it did. So I got a new batter for my car and it is mobile again. I made an appointment to have the car checked out to determine if it was just time for my (old) battery to die or if there is something drawing power from the battery causing it to die. Thanks for all your help and a big thanks to odbenz for his directions on how to get into the trunk when there is no power to the system and you can't gain access. Cheers.

Very smart decision to have your car check out. Just hope your battery were the problem and not the alternator not charging the battery.

Just got a call from Mercedes -- the battery was the problem -- they did some diagnostics to confirm and the alternator is fine so nothing is drawing the battery. Decided to get the car winterized and change of oil since it was in anyway. Thanks again for all the help.

If everything lights up & works etc but it won't crank. Check fuse 52 in the front SAM. If it's blown & still 15 amp - replace with 20 amp. It was underspec'ed.

Don't be fooled. The clicking noise is frequently the auto leveling on the BiX. Check the starter relay & start enabling fuses 31, 52 & 57. 52 usually blows because it was underspec'ed. There is a TSB out on it. This problem is seldom the starter motor itself or the engagement solenoid. It is always possible of course.

Happy Friday to all. I would like your expertise. Prior to starting an 05 clk500, I was hosing out the leaves and debri from the overnight rainfall. When I notice that the driver side headlight kept turning on and then off. The vehicle hesitate to start at first, then just went dead. Cluster, gauges, seat belts etc are all fine.
battery is at 12.3. It does the same when attempted to jump with both jump box and another vehicle. I charged battery overnight, blew out engine compartment to ensure no moister. Battery dropped from 13.5 to 12.3 when installed, still dead without any crank or hesitation. What did I got wet or blew?
Does anyone knows or have experience these symptoms with their MB?

Respectfully and valued
arjuana

See your other thread. Have battery load tested. Check fuses 31, 52 & 57. 52 frequestly blows because it was under spec'ed.

Thanks for responding. I really appreciate your expertise. I will check the fuses. battery replaced it was under warranty. The battery read 12.3 prior to replacing. New battery is at 12.4. it's still dead no clicking cranking no hesitation nothing. I may have gotten water into the air filters, when hosing down the grill. What are your thoughts on that?
Respectfully Arjuna
