Basically. Do a little research on the shop you go to.

Yeah here in Vegas they really don't care...lol...i have 5% all around...the brand is SunTek with a lifetime warranty...really a great tint...

It's too hot out here to not have an extremely dark tint....and AZ is just as hot...do you have strict cops?

Thanks, I will look up SunTek. It gets crazy-freaking hot!

I never had a problem and had 20 all around a long time back. I don't think they want to stop someone for just tint. I think they're looking for more of a stop. Probably just add tint on to make a longer list of citations.

Nope, it would probably have to be something custom.

i did 20% all the way around. i have a black exterior too. it looks good, if you go any darker it will make driving at night a bit difficult, esepcially when reversing

Funny, regarding strict cops in AZ...

I asked a buddy about his tint (and he is a young guy like most of you)...in AZ he had 20% all around and was stopped twice just for the tint. $150 the first time then $275 the second (he just had it taken off rather than pay).

Maybe I will do 35 all around

Hey, I decided to revive this old thread to get kevblah and Clkboi to chime in (who knows? maybe Wes will come back....)

I'm finally ready to take the tint plunge, got a price of $250 for 40% Suntek with a lifetime warranty. Guy says CLK's don't need the felt/moleskin, but if I want it it's $25 per door (does that mean they don't put it on the rears?)

He recommends 40% because he had a guy with 35% get measured at 34% by Mass State Police, and even though that's within the acceptable +/- range, it'll be a PITA for the guy to go to court and such. I don't need the drama, and I doubt I can see the difference between 35% and 40%.

So how's that $250 price?

I really love this product
http://www.formulaone.com/en/pinnacle.aspx
I have had it installed on several cars now and have nothing but for it.
It is a non metallic ceramic film that really keeps the car cool... Crucial here in Hotlanta as it is for you in AZ. Also no interference with GPS radio or cell phone signals. ( a big deal on CLK since antenna is in the rear glass
My installer is a 5 time tint off champion and the tint looks as though it came from the factory. No need for moleskin.... No scratches ever.

I like 35 side 25 rear

I got 5% on my front! hope I can have 35% car tints! But that's not allowed here!

You should get something that will last a lifetime!

This makes no sense. 5% is like Limo tinting.

Gradient tint levels are measured by % of allowed light/UV passing through it.

The higher the %, the lighter the tint.
