Actually, personal fire arms are banned in quite a few places over here. But, on the flip side there is no control over them in other places. Seems like everyone in Yemen has a AK47 hanging off their shoulder. Black market arms distribution is a really big problem in the poor countries over here, funded by terrorism. Twice while in Sana'a I've actually seen gun fights break out in the streets - you don't forget crap like that.
The real problem over here (not in Dubai) isn't the guns, it's the damn home made bombs. Been in India and Pakistan a few times when they went off, spooky because there just isn't any rhyme or reason and they cause mass deaths.
Look at us just spreding the Christmas cheer on this thread eh?

That's crazy, gun fights in the streets! I'm guessing that's one of the reason you're well compensated. You're taking a big risk.

Yes, true of course but I really enjoy what I do, I'm a little chemically unbalanced I think. Besides, look at the stories I'll be able to tell the grand-kids one day!

On the subject of the B55.... it's just a concept, so I reckon they have just put together an intake for the project.
I wouldn't have thought that's how the intake would be if sold to a customer as a finished product.

Kev, my brother is over there 6 months out of the year b/t Afghanistan and Iraq. He's an Army Ranger with the 3rd batt, 75th RGR. RGT. out of FT. Benning and has been going back and forth for ~7 years now. Luckily, He's only taken 3 bullets and been blown up once, those guys are nuts. He's scarred up from head to toe, but he loves what he does so none of us can talk him out of it. You should hear some of the stories those guys come back with.

Danger Will Robinson.
Why does everyone want to do an intake that is less efficient than the one that comes stock??? get the 55 box or rentech and call it a day. Heck I am just going to switch to the kevlar tubes and I'm done

The dyno never lies. I'd try it and see if it made power...... before I buy it of course.
There are mods that are all blingy carbon fiber that don't do squat for HP, and there are mods that are ugly as hell but work...... the best is both for the CLK.1!!!

So I actually came across an article that talked about this pic. As badblack said this is a pic from the euro b series in which a team at Daimler put a 5.5 liter v8 into the small little car. They put that and the 7-speed g tronic transmission in it. They didnt have the room to run the intake as normal so they went another route. It does look cheesy but this is a legit build by Mercedes that took 8 months to complete so that must have been the best way to do it with the space they had, not just some home built setup.

A fantastic built, tons of time into the project, bit time 'wow' points and a back yard spare part built in the dark while sniffing glue air intake system...
I'm very, very, very much into attention to detail and this is not blowing my hair back whatsoever. Three extra hours of work and they could have tucked the hose clamps in better, used aluminium piping, cut and weld it to make a better less restricive air path then used 3" rubber ends to connect them to the outside air source for engine flex - I would know, I've done it before.
I wouldn't have turned a '95 Civic out of my shop like this let alone an 8 month MB project. So in the end, yes, it very much is some 'home built setup', just built by a world leading car manufaturer.
Fail.
