Need Technical Help with CLK 350 (NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED)
Recently purchased a CLK 350 convertible with over 40K miles. Just had an oil change and the subject about Transmission Fluid came up.
I'm not sure if the previous owner changed the transmission fluid or not. Is there ANY way to tell? The mechanic doesn't seem to be able to tell (but I think he just wants me to pay him to do it).
Also, if I use a mechanic OTHER than a certified Mercedes dealer/service center to change the transmission fluid, does that affect the warranty? And on the subject of warranties, is an extended warranty worth the price?
I'm not very good with mechanical details and I find the costs for service on Merecedes to be a lot higher than other cars. Just trying to find the best option.
Please help!

Same car as yours man. Unfortunately there is no way to tell. No stick to check level or color. If you car is past 40,000.00 miles than you should change it as soon as you can.
Last time i asked it was going to cost me 430 to change it.

LOL, omg, yes, yes I should....
If it's at 40K, do a flush, over 50K, drain and fill. I have been faithful to the flush every 25-30K and have never had an issue, other members only drain and fill as they are concerned about debris.
Forgive me, I have had a rough two weeks and in the middle of a 'move'...
