CLK Cabriolet also reviewed in Auto Express

Came across an issue of Auto Express at O'Hare Airport this weekwhich has a complimentary article on the new Cabriolet. (Issue 748, printed in UK, p. 29). They describe it as "the ultimate rag-top cruiser" and summarize "True four-seater cabriolet with good rear space and legroom. Exemplary build quality, and Super smooth to drive."

Only criticism is a comment that , "Removing the roof has a side effect, though, giving a hint of body flex when accelerating hard from a bend or driving on rough roads."

Interestingly they note that even with the special deflector lowered, there is minimal buffeting at motorway speeds, or as they state, "Forget wind in the hair." Wonder if that also applies to the rear seat passengers?

As to comparison with the old model, they contend steering is vastly improved. Stated, " there is very little roll through the corners, and the steering - unlike with the old model- is accurate and has lots of feel." They are also high on the fact that the top can be lowered by remote control outside of the car and takes only 20 seconds. (That's five more than the SL) Luggage space is described as "best in class" [390 litre top up/276 lowered]

Photos show the CLK500 with AMG styling kit, interior shot with wood steering wheel, side front, and rear views of vehicle, and a shot of a person seated in back seat with caption"Impressive legroom in the rear." Exterior color is brilliant silver and interior is ash.

Awaiting review in The Star

Was informed this am that the May/June issue of The Star (published by and for Mercedes Club of USA) features the 2004 CLK Cabriolet. Anyone getting an early issue (just went out in the mail) feel free to post and inform us of the review it got.

CLK Review

I read an review on the bus on the way home...
they said that the new 209 cab is the best one out there and that you can forget getting your hairstyle ****ed in the front seats but rear seat passengers may feel a slight breeze

I rode in the rear the other day to see what our toddler is experiencing. It is pretty breezy back there, even with the windows up. Our son sometimes loves the breeze, but other times it makes him a little uncomfortable. The back is not nearly as quiet as the front, in terms of breeze. OTOH, the W209 is way better up front than I remember from a W208 test drive.
