Beware: EIS faults for older w209s
Hey guys just want to let you know that with higher milage vehicles, you may get the dreaded EIS (electronic Ignition System) fault. The symptoms appear to be starting the motor with all the dash accesories failing to recognize that the motor is on....eventually it will get to the point where the vehicle will not recognize the key at all.
Diagnosis:
Replace Key. Simple $200 fix will save you $500...if you are stranded; need a flatbed truck, and a diagnosis of electrical system.
If this does not resolve your problem; atleast you have a spare key, then a replacement of your EIS would be recommended...sucks *****, as you can only do it from the dealership. unless you guys want to send me your keys and ecu cards so i can reprogram them.
