Rigid Windscreen / Wind deflector

The windscreen that comes with my 07 CLK 550 gets pushed down at highway speeds. Is there a good aftermarket replacement that would have a more rigid frame?

I believe the windscreen is designed to be used with the side windows up. Mine does the same as yours with the windows down, but it's virtually useless anyway. Only witht he windows up does it appear to do much of anything.

Thanks, figured that with the windows up, I might not even need it. But, I see what you are saying. Although, I do see a lot of other convertibles using screens on the highway.

I will try it with the windows up to the top of the screen next time.

Do you know the theory behind these windscreens? I have one in my trunk, and although it takes up space I have left it in there on the theory that I may actually use it someday. But since it takes extra effort to use, I assume they are used about as much as the snap on covers used to cover the lowered top on older convertibles - which is to say almost never. Do they really make a noticeable difference, and if so, what?Less wind in my hair or just less noise or what? Sorta defeats the cool one touch feature to lower the top if you then have to get out and perform the automotive equivalent of pitching a pup tent. i

It will never push down at any speed if you have all your windows up. Why even have the windscreen up when your windows is down. It look kindna stupid if you ask me.

The windscreen creates an air bubble that makes the wind flow over the cabin area.
I saw a new E350 convertible last week with what looked like a retractable wing over the windshield and that probably works even better at directing the air.
The CLK, even without the windscreen, is so much better than the old British convertibles I used to drive --when they were working well enough to drive that is.

You can install the screen and still put the top up. I have mine installed all the time unless I need the back seats. Plus, until I get tint, it serves as a rear privacy screen.

Maybe you could create a Velcro strap to keep the screen up at highway speeds.
Also heard (never tired) of a trick of using blue Locktite to keep motorcycle side mirrors (on the ball joint of the stem into the mirror head) in position.

Mine stays up at speed, but maybe it is not as used (loosened up) as yours.

Yeah I am just going to only use it with the windows up. I see some cars that have ones made for windows down as well. But ours it not.
