HOLLY ****!!! day and night wow my tune didn't even feel that good but this wow. I was recording with the cam but thing fell down and erased when i just stepped on it i swear i wet my pants. Shifts feel faster, Engine feels free and the midrange just sucks you in.

I feel ignorant asking this, but can anyone explain what effect a new pulley has on power delivery? I know this is a somewhat common mod on fast cars, but I'm not much of a gearhead...

It's a very simple mod, using the AMS pulley reduces the weight on the crank, less rotational mass. Basic same principle as using a lightweight flywheel.

PS how does the car feel? Does it shift later/sooner now?

Hello W209 owners,
Not sure what happened to badblack, but I will chime in with regards to his testimonial. His views mirror that of many of our customers who are surprised at how much of a difference it makes in the way the car "feels". It certainly improves the acceleration (especially in lower gears where the gains are the most drastic), but as he mentioned the most significant improvement is typically in the shifting performance. The gains on the 550s are even greater & more pronounced than the older M113 motors.
The engine is allowed to accelerate & decelerate at a much faster rate than stock (similar to that of a LTW flywheel) and for that reason it allows the transmission it operate much more smoothly and upshift and downshift at a quicker rate. It also changes the shift points slightly. The biggest difference comes with Stage 2 (Headers & pulley). Because the headers allow the engine to hit peak torque a full 1000rpm earlier, the TCU will actually learn the new power curve and adjust all shift points accordingly. With the stage 2, you can actually go WOT (minus kickdown pedal) @ 2500rpm and it will literally hold the gear all the way to redline, thus allowing the automatic to behave much more like a true manual in manumatic mode. It will transform the way your transmission behaves and will reduce the number of downshifts & upshifts required during spirited driving.
His comments on off the shelf tune being lackluster for NA V8s is something we have stated for quite some time (and remember, we sell tunes and still don't recommend them). Its not that tunes are bad, its just on these older M113s have relatively simple ECUs and there just isn't much room to squeeze out of them unless you have all the hardware mods to back up the ECU changes. AMS always recommends doing the ECU upgrade last, not first.
Hope that helps,
AMS

Funny as this may seem, member BLKCLK550 is not welcome around here. We have several tools available to us and name similarities are only amusing. His IP has been reported to anti-spam services, and as an "SEO expert" that will have its consequences.
