Normal Oil Consumption / Burning

Hi, what is the normal oil consumption / burning for an 2007 CLK 550? I added my first quart after driving about 6K miles. I do redline at times.

I never added oil between changes in my old Mercedes models.

The last time I did an oil change, I put in 8qts of oil. 500 miles later my low oil level alarm came on. I added .5qt and haven't had a problem since.

As everyone already said, common if you drive it hard.

OK, thanks. Is there a way to check the oil using the dash? I know some models have that ability with a hidden area for dyno settings, etc.
