Angry First CLK wreck

I ordered my CLK500 last May. I picked it up aroung mid-August. To my delight the car has been incredible. In early November, a light snow storm came out of nowhere around Chicago, and to my dismay I got wacked. As they say, there is always a first. This was a crushing blow to owning a new Mercedes. Most of my friends could not even look at the car. Mercedes was absolutely great in getting the first replacement parts for the first reported CLK500 accident. My bodyshop even got a certificate!! The final tab was close to $12500. Please watch the snow and ice.

OUCH! So sorry about the accident . Could you give us details? Looks like the CLK held up pretty well.

Thumbs up

I was cut off on a side street and BANG! The force actually pushed my car up on a curb. The damage ranged from 3 cracked rims, 2 flat tires, smashed front quarter panel. The suspension on the drivers side was replaced also. The front bumber and windshield solvent container were also replaced. The only parts that were hard to get were the under-carriage plastic guards. Mercedes didn't have any made for parts at that time. The whole job took about 4 weeks since Thanksgiving was getting near. Most of the mechanics said the underneath was like a tank though. Attached is my 500 in it's new condition. All I can say is thanks American Family Insurance !!!

Wow, I'm impressed at how the CLK held up. Mercedes is awesome! I'm glad everything is okay now; the car looks awesome!

What did you get to drive while your CLK was in recovery? Also, you should get some different rims. Chromed M-B wheels never look as good as a set of custom wheels and they cost that same if not more.

I actually passed on the rental car. I just drove my jeep. I have been looking at several different rims. Before the accident, I had the MB alloy 5-Spokes, but when three were cracked from the accident, insurance paid for a new set. At that time I thought "well, why not make them chromes". Just a last second decision.
Thanks for the input.
