Had to look that up too. Distronic sounded like a disease. So some models have a radar gizmo in the front? What, to keep you from rear-ending people?

Well, I guess If I'm going to try to fake an SL, I might as well fake a sophisticated accessory, and just remember to use my own brakes.

Well, how dumb am I? I just bought the Ebay version with the open recessed grill behind the star to see if I like it better. Will be dumping one or the other pretty soon.

+1, we all do stuff like that, part of the fun of modding mate. I'm about to do it with a brake package I used for less than 1,000km...

So wait...I"m panicking. After closer inspection, that Ebay grill looks like it has the dreaded gap at the top. True? Crap!

I just sent Jason at 55 tech an email asking a question about the gap and asking him to cancel the order if things were as I feared. Well, it wasn't 15 minutes before he emailed me back and told me my money was refunded. Damn. Talk about service. I sure hope I can do business with him in the future. He can be trusted.

I've bought a number of parts from 55 Tech for my old e39 (insert shameless pug here)

Always had emails responded to very quickly and always great service.

Newsyland looks cool. BTW, you posted a picture above with the grill in question, may I ask which wheels you had on that car?

Yeah, I drove out into the countryside to take those photos. They're Brabus Monoblock V wheels.

Yep, they'll be gonzo by this time next week, just waiting on my new set up to arrive in Dubai. There will be a thread.

I'm liking the grill more and more. It's really growing on me. Just FYI.

That grill have the "BIG" gap. Have you try just install the star alone with out the round shiny plastic? I actually like the shiny plastic because you don't ever seen it on the Clk.

Yes, I cancelled that order because of looking at the pictures and seeing the gap. After looking at a few new cars in the flesh, I figured out that it looks pretty realistic. And it's all one piece, so you can't eliminate that shiny background. I'm very satisfied now.

Are you sure....? My came it 3 different pieces (housing, shiny cover and the chrome star). I pretty much glued all the parts together.

Positive. Yanked out of the box and popped in. No thought required. Just my speed. Did yours come from Revell?

No, not from Revell. So you didn't have to glue anything? Just remove from the shipping box and installed?

Yes. It was all put together and complete. I had read on some of the sites that sold grilles where they were bragging about one component being an OEM star. I don't remember if I bought that one or not.

And you got the Revell joke? http://www.revell.com/

Ok...........like I said, if you don't like the shiny plate, you can remove it and just install the star.

I think the star looks better than the shiny plate.
