New member here. I bought one of the last new CLKs in April of 2010, a 2009-550. I have access to a nice discount through an Audi dealer and was looking hard at a S-4 or S-5. I took an afternoon to visit Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Although I loved the look of the S-5, the S-4 actually performed better, but both interiors didn’t do much for me. Off to BMW, tried two three series in the same price range, nice but nothing that hit me as “I got to have it”. Last stop Mercedes. Drove a 2010 C-350, not too impressed. Then drove a 2010 E-550, liked it, but quite expensive. Then the salesman says, “we have an older 550 with a $12K discount, you should try”. I loved the CLK interior. The CLK seemed to me to handle a bit better than the E-550, although to be fair the E was a 4 door. I really loved the CLK, they had two and one was black on black with burl wood trim and navigation, essentially what I would have ordered if I had the chance. Although I wasn’t familiar with the CLK before visiting the dealer, it was instant attraction. I ended up getting over 15K off sticker and a few other incentives and the next day I drove it home. I love this car, best car I’ve ever owned. For me it has the best combination of performance and luxury. I’ve had it over a year now and simply love this car, although I was surprised that I needed 4 new tires after only one year and 12K miles.
