2005 clk500 cabriolet rt. door latch

If I open the rt. door with keylessgo the door will not latch. The only way I can get it to close and latch is to hit the door close to the latch and I hear a motor move and then it latches.I have not taken it apart yet I don't want to buy a whole new latch , what can I do?
