I think the only reason they had to bend/cut anything was because they were using the existing sockets with the new tails. With new sockets its all plug and play. I want some led error free turn signals but the ones I was looking at were $80 a pair

You can't use the old sockets with the new tails. I bought the new sockets but there's a piece in the way that has to be bent. I have confirmed myself on the facelift 209s and they don't have that piece.

Correct, the pre-facelift bulb boards have a different clip mechanism and have the bulbs in different spots over the new ones, you can't interchange them. I have a face lifted frame, sure wish I would have got the front bumper cover with it too

I don't know what's going on, but my car is facelifted but I still have the normal tail lights (not LED). What gives?

aftermarket only, but they're all doing it (my 2007 E350 has OEM LED, and it does look good).

Eddie, your E, the brake lights are LED but everything else (signal, reverse and running lights) are still incadescent right?

I believe so, that's what I've read; haven't had to change a bulb yet!

No, in the picture with the LED tails it was a carbon fiber AMG spoiler, now I have the Vorsteiner carbon fiber spoiler, it's a monster compared to the BS one
