clock is frozen and trip computer is not working

I tried to reset my clock and it always goes back to the same time each time I do. Also my trip computer is not working. It constantly tells me that im going at some outrageous mph like 400-20000mph! The distance traveled is also not working as well as the mpg indicator. Is there someway to reset the whole system or fix this issue?

Everything else in the car is working so I would assume battery is alright. Unless it is distributed differently somehow. Where do I check the fuses? If the fuse is out wouldn't the unit be not working at all?

I don't know about the clock. I had problems with the trip computer. It wolud get stuck in one mode... ie, mpg, compess or whatever. I replaced two fuses, # 13 & 22. Works ok now but does not illuminate. It never did light up to begin with.

Good luck,

Is it under warranty? I just had a problem with my cruise control indication on the speedometer. Sometimes it would flash (really distracting) or the indication wouldn't be there at all. 95% of the time it worked fine. Of course, they couldn't duplicate the problem. So I had to wait until the car had the problem and drive to the dealership and show them the problem. Once they saw the problem they hooked it up to the computer and found some parameters were never set such as the country it was delivered to and a bunch of other parameters. These are parameters you cannot access. So I doubt this is something you can fix and you need to take it to the dealer.

Not under warranty. However I did have a MB dealer look at it & quoted around $850 to replace trip computer. The part from dealer is over $700. I've been looking around ebay and have found a few, but none for '03. It will not interchange with other years. It works fine now, just doesn't light up. Not really a priority item.
