Transmission sticking in 3rd?
Is this a recognized problem with these cars?
I have just purchased a 06 CLK320. First few hundred miles have been uneventful, drivetrain wise. I have been switching between C and S but haven’t really noticed a difference. Normally stays in C. At the weekend I noticed that while doing around 45mph the tach was at 3000-3500 rpm and didn’t shift down. When stopped at the next intersection I tried to switch from C to S but couldn’t. When I accelerated from the stop, it was slow to move and never changed gear. I didn’t need to go above 40. Stopped the car. Turned ignition Off and then On, and the shift returned to normal, S was selectable etc.
Sounds like a AT “black box” problem. Is this a common issue?
