I recently picked up a 2007 CLK 350 with only 25,000 miles around six months ago. My warranty ended a few weeks ago and I'm currently out of the country. I want to buy a 4/48 extended warranty through MB USA. The car is in mint condition and it should have around 30-35k miles when I return in early September. I was quoted a price of $3750 for the extended warranty as long as I purchase it within 30 days of the factory warranty expiration.
I'm having so much fun driving this car and I want to own it for several more years. It's a fantastic automobile. I want more peace of mind.
Has anyone tried to buy an extended warranty through MB USA more than 90 days after their factory warranty has expired?
I know I should have reupped before it expired. Lesson learned.
Thanks!

I think most dealers will stick by the 30 day rule, some will bend it but you might be too far out in Sept for them to bend. If you need a quote on an excellent warranty when you get back, let me know and I can help you out.

$3750 seems pretty expensive for 4/48. While my '06 CPO CAB 350 has had a whole list of nagging issues covered under warranty, I don't think I would have come close to $3750 in repairs. I now have 105,000mi on it and it's perfect, except for a new whining sound from the alternator (bearing?). Will probably change that out at the next service stop.

I'm going to keep around $5000 in a savings account for repairs. I'll probably trade-in the car around 60,000 miles for a new MB coupe.

WARNING:
I work at a Mercedes-Benz dealership and MB USA ONLY offers up to 36 months, also they are fanatic about the expiration date. In my experience you would be lucky to get coverage within the first handful of days after expiration. Make double, triple, quadruple sure that you are getting a genuine Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty from Mercedes-Benz USA. If you are getting your coverage directly through Mercedes-Benz USA there may be some program I am not aware of, but I seriously doubt that. Just be cautious!
Cheers,
Jacob
