Lo-Budg All-Seasons. Opinions?

Thinking about putting some all-season rubber on the stock 17" wheels in anticipation of more winter-time driving...and getting some 18's for summer tires.

Is anyone running Kuhmo Ecsta ASX or Hankook Ventus ES or Sumitomo HTR a/s? Any feedback on your experience with these donuts?

The price is certainly right on all of these options--so if anybody has any thoughts on these, please post... TIA!

No on the Kuhmo's. They were terrible on the daughter's front wheel drive Celica.

Bite the bullet and grab a set of Blizzak's for the winter. I have them and love them here in the midwest.

I bought Toyo Garit KX last year and I was impressed.
These are winter tires and much better than Pirelli Snowsport 210 that I used before.

Why not just get Continental Extreme Contact DWS all-seasons for your 17" and call it a day and save money on 18" rims and summer tires. If your going to get 18" rims and summer tires no matter what, than don't get all-seasons for the 17", do yourself a favor and get proper winter tires.

Because my parents both retired from Goodyear, I get some terrific discounts on tires. I tried out a set of Eagle GT's and was pleasantly surprised! They perform much better than I expected and wear well.........

This is hands down the best advice.

I have DWS's now on my CLK55 and Father's Lexus RX330. The tires are best all seasons I have ever bought. Perform superbly.

I have had Sumitomo, they are by far one of the worst tires I have had, winter performance was nearly as bad a summer tire. Only thing that made these tires doable was they were on my 2005 STi.

I also had a set of Kuhmos on my 01 CLK55, the Dunlops were on my back order so I decided to get Kuhmos, they were not as bad as the Sumitomos, but still any other than a dusting left the CLK traction-less.

Nothing compares though to a nice set of Blizzaks for the winter. Dunlop Grapics are also quite good for their price.
