What would you drive?
If you were to replace your CLK? Another MB? Something different?
I'm not talking about the bucket wishlist car here, just your everyday driver.
Whatever I purchase next will definitely be AWD. Maybe an A or S5. Even looked into the FX35.
Just curious to know what others would possibly drive.

6 series backseat same as lexus sc430 and CL class...not usable, so depends on your needs. the MB coupes drive sportier than sedan equivalent, even when similar engine/transmission/chassis, so it depends on how important that is to you.
for me, the more i drive my 2006 CLK55 cab, the more i think it's the ultimate car(and i've had quite a few). perhaps i wouldn't mind a clk63 cab...but there aren't too many of those, and zero to 60 in 5 seconds is already plenty fast for me.

Just nearly bought one last year, but the wife liked the Murano LE better from a " I see out all windows" easier standpoint. Still the 300hp+ makes it a pretty sporty ride.

By the way your pic in your signature has to be one of the best CLKs I've seen. Very nice!

mis3, I drove a friend's new 2012 A5 with the 2.0 turbo and was really quite surprised on how it ran and handled. The brakes were seriously good. Only know that from about t-boning a traffic straggler in traffic during full on pedal mash.

I am going to put my 750i up for sale in the next month or two. I will probably replace it with another BMW; most likely a facelift (2008+) M6 coupe in Alpine White. Other cars I am interested in are new body style 750, CL550 (just don't see the point in having two 550s), and the Jag XKR coupe.

From my CLK550 cabriolet, it would have to be a CLK63 cabriolet, or maybe an E550 cabriolet. If I wasn't going to drive a convertible, I might have to go back to an SUV - BMW X3 or Audi Q5 (nothing too big).
@Mike: So your wife went from an ML430 to a Murano? My wife has a 2009 Murano that is coming up at the lease end next month and it can't be soon enough! I hate that car - it drives like a beach ball and the seats are horribly uncomfortable. She thought she wanted a W164, but they have this annoying wide flared plastic trim on the rocker panel that makes it hard to step into without getting your pants leg dirty. The BMW X5 has the same problem (as did my 2006 X3). The new X3 doesn't, but she thinks it's really too small. Our short list for now is the new Jeep GC and the Acura MDX. We're not really excited ab out either one. What she really wants is a new Touareg, but they are in short supply, which equals high price. I am guessing she'll end up with the MDX.

^^^ she may want to take a look at the new F25 X3. It has grown significantly from the previous generation and is almost as large as the E53 X5.

I think the A5 is one of the most beautiful cars out today. If not for the horror stories I've heard about the SF area dealerships and Audi's reliability, I think I'd seriously consider it. Otherwise, the Audi's, including A6, would have much stronger sales and not lag the E or 5-series so badly.

As for sales, I don't think Audi is doing that bad here. In Toronto, I see new Audis everywhere, at least a lot more than a few years ago.

To add along to the CLK as I love my car too much I'd go with the X6 or Range Rover Supercharged. I've always had coupes so a powerful, luxury SUV would be my choice, but I'm in love with the new Jags. They've done a great styling job so that would be a possibility too.

I was actually looking at an SL500 before I ended up with the CLK. Given that I was looking at 4 to 5 year old models, I decided the SL was going to be too much trouble dealing with the ABC suspension issues. I briefly thought about an SLK, but then I remembered driving them when I worked for MBZ and quickly took it off the list. It's a great looking and driving car, but it's just too darned small! At 6'3" and 225lbs, I need something larger. Plus there is just zero storage in it - if you carry a laptop, it;s going in the trunk. The CLK really fits me very well and ultimately, I'm glad I have the back seat.

Yup........the ABC suspension is such a nightmare and expensive to repair. I learn my lesson when I owned the CL55 with the same ABC suspension.
