Weird radio static question

Weird radio static question
Car has head unit with NAV and Sirius. Twice this week when I started the car I got very bad static/distortion from all audio sources - including CDs. The distortion is "tied" to the music or voices - it rises and falls with the changes in volume of a song. Other days the problem does not arise at all.
It does it whether or not the engine is running. Turning the radio on and off does not help, but shutting the car off, opening the door, closing it and starting over makes it go away until the next time. Any ides what could cause that?

bad ground, possibly in the driver's door? Can't be antenna if it affects CD....does opening/closing passenger door fix it too? dome light? just spit-ballin'.
