JDenham, welcome. I believe all? CLK's have an ambient sound sensor that will increase/decrease the volume based on speed and noise. Sure someone will correct me if wrong. I'm somehwat of a newb myself and not sure how to link previous threads but if you do a search on "audio volume" you will see numerous other mentions of this.

Thanks Schmitty63- ya I searched around and found out it's some kinda Bose volume adj. I'm guessing my local MB dealer can turn that function off. ?

I found this in an earlier thread. It appears the speed sensitive control can be changed by dealer.

there are actually 2 systems working. 1 is the bose audio pilot which is supposed to be undetectable (but i can still discern it...). the other is the speed-sensitive volume adjustment. that can be disabled thru the DAS at your dealer. well, i should say that that is the way it is for the C-class, so i'm assuming that the clk would be similar.

I recall a "secret" menu on the MCS in the W163 Ml that would allow user adjustment of this. I don't know of any such user setting on the CLK radios, although there may be one. I know it can be set via SDS.

wow I am experiencing the same thing myself. It is VERY detectable and VERY annoying. I wish I could turn the feature off but my dealership had no idea what I was talking about....will try again today...
