Key Dependent?

I am a new CLK 500 owner 2006 model. Going through the setup menus in the cluster and there is what that is Key Dependent off or on. I can't find anything in the book on this one? Does anyone know what it is for?

Also is there a way to check the tire pressure in the cluster. I was reading in the manual about it but can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance.

The way it seems to work (in my '04), if you have two keys you can make the car recognize each key for the memory settings (seat, mirrors). Don't believe I can check tire pressure in my '04. Hell, I'm still figuring things out.

Jerry

Thanks. Me too. My wife went to the store and when she came back I was still sitting in the new "toy". She could not believe it. I was still going through the manual. Problem is the car is so darn comfortable I could've fallen asleep so easily.

I could not find anything on MB site or in book on that item. It shows something about checking pressure via the cluster but I did not see it either.

Where in SW FL are you? I am in Tampa Bay area. Maybe I should change my location to MI and FL

Do you guys have a TPMS Sensors in your tires ? If you don't I do not believe it would show in the cluster.

Louie, don't believe I have TPMS. Look like standard rubber valve stems. Don't see any reference to TPMS in the book. We have it in the R class, and I guess it's okay, but it takes very little to check the tires with a gauge anyway. In the CLK I've been slowly increasing the pressure towards the >100 mph 35/38 psi recommendaton. I'm now 34/37. I like the handling with the higher pressures.

Louie good point not sure. In the book it shows that it will tell you if tire pressure changes and if so you will need to reset it. Also shows that it will display tired pressure. We have 2002 MINI and it will tell us if a tire loses pressure, but does not show actual pressure. We do not have special valve stems in that car that I know of.

jzorn, there are a lot of 320s around here, many, many convertibles. I've got a coupe and love it. That 5 liter is fun, after driving an '87 Volvo 4 cyl, 4-speed for the past 24 years. I don't ever see any other 500s around here driving like it was meant to be driven. With ESP off, corners are way fun!
