Subwoofer and Amp install

Has anyone installed a sub and amp to there factory unit? If so are you having any problems with it. I have and I am having problems with the sound going up and then down and then going out of control and the place that I got it installed said they don't know why its doing it, plus it never does it when I go there. Any help would be appreciated.

A while back, I saw a post in the audio section - I believe it was for a C-Class. The guy had a similar problem to yours and it turned out to be a hidden microphone that is used to detect ambient noise in the interior which increases the volume accordingly. Apparently a subwoofer drove this microphone nuts. Once he found and disabled the microphone, the problem went away.

You might try doing a few searches with microphone in the audio section.

Actually it wasn't in the audio section afterall. I just found the link for you.

I don't know if our CLK500's have the Bose audio pilot or not but the problem sounds similar to what you are experiencing.

I'm very unhappy with the audio quality in the CLK500 (not so much when playing a CD, but when playing the radio).

Can you please specify what equipment you changed, what equipment you bought and about how much it cost? Thanks.

Glad it worked out for you Wheelrz. I want to do the same thing to mine this summer. I have a JL 12" sub and a Precision Power amp collecting dust that would work nicely in my CLK.

Some pics of your installation would be nice !!

Here is a website where you can see it at. I just need to find carpet that matchs the trunk to carpet the box with. Let me know what you guys think.

The amp and sub look great!!! Where did you place the amp?? It looks like its on the back of the rear seat...don't your rear seats fold down??
Was it hard to install??
was it expensive??
How does it sound with the sub in the trunk like that??

The amp is on the back of the seat but I never put the seat down. It was about $400 for the custom sub box. I got it done at Tweeter.
