Angry Out of service

My 03 CLK 500 with a "whopping" 2800 miles an only 4 months of use has racked up 23 days out of service so far.The service drive is always packed with MB's in for service and the advisors are running around like chickens, valets are soaked in sweat from running back and forth trying to keep up and the service mgrs office seems to always have a disgruntled customer...and it's off season! Last time I was there the mgr was telling a customer with a new S 500 that 4 quarts of oil burned in 4500 miles was within acceptable limits according to the factory rep. In my case the dealer passes the buck to the factory rep and the rep will not commit to anything other than lots of double talk. No one seems to care about the customer's experience and it's making me wonder if this will truly be my last MB until the JD Power ratings get back up to the top 5, but even so MB's willingness not to "step up to the plate" will be a very negative impression etched into my brain for years to come. What a shame as I really take care of my cars and have been a loyal MB customers for years. They sure take your money with a big smile though

Sales have expanded faster than Service Bays can be built

The C Class is now the volume sales leader with cars priced at levels everyone can now afford. The M Class competes on the same level as Ford, GM and Dodge SUV's. Times do change and the service departments seem to be having a tough time keeping up now that your local Mercedes Benz dealer is catering to a larger populace. Just wait for the new A class and Smart variants to add to the mix here in the US.

Several years ago I could usually get a service scheduling within a week. Now it is double that if not sometimes even more like a month out.

My dealership is new (less than one year) and it is huge, lots of service adv's and an enormous service area. Still, too many cars with too many problems. Beleive me if the cars had less problems they would not be so busy. Owning a MB used to be a very special experience, but now it's like any other car, and that's not good, worse yet, many other less expensive brands are beating MB in quality the ratings. And if the factory or dealership is unwilling to stand behind their product then things really deteriorate quickly...what a shame
