M-bENZ - Genius

I can get a set of supersprint mufflers that are exact copies of the CLK63 Quad mufflers, but they're expensive. $2100AU. Or should i just go to my local exhaust shop and get them to fabricate some up for me? I got quoted $1500 from the exhaust shop.

Do mufflers make a difference with the sound?

I def want quad mufflers that look exactly like the CLK63 Quads.

Are you referring to this one? We have these at 1950 + S/H. The cat-back is slightly cheaper with a single tip. You can also add the mid pipe for an extra $574 to make the dual a true cat-back.

I've been searching heaps but everything is so expensive

CampioniShop i will be pm'in you

So if i do straight pipes that lead to the supersprint quad mufflers will the check engine light show? The guys said that if i touch the primary it will, but if i just remove the secondary cats it will be fine.

I just want the car to sound like this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPeBKnpAHaM

If i remove the secondary cats, install the supersprint mid pipe and mufflers, will it sound like this? I want it extremely loud, without constant drone.

Here is what I did;

https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ew-thread.html

The whole front section has now changed (Kleemann headers, dual 100 cell cats only, new piping, etc.) but the rear section remains exactly the same. It sounds (as it did before) really low and meaty, I love it.

You have tons of options.

Sound clip?

I know there's heaps of options. I just want it to sound like that clip i posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPeBKnpAHaM and to have quads that look exactly like the CLK63 Quads. I want it to be very loud, but no drone.

Should i go supersprint or just go to my local exhaust shop and get them to make it up for me? It's the cheaper option.

Also, is it true if you do full straight pipes the Engine Check light will come on?

Apparently the guy at the performance shop said once you start playing with the primary cat/s thats when the CEL will come up.

He said secondary's should be fine. (is this true?)

Did check engine light come up?

Your car looks hot! I want to do something similar to what you did. But i'm worried the check engine light will come up.

I'll have a video up from my next track day, that should contain a pretty healthy sound clip.

As for the CEL, yes, if you run straight pipes or remove the primary cats and only run secondaries (which I am doing but they are 100 cell) you need to have the ECU flashed to ignore the flag.

Don't take the primary out unless you going to do the long tube headers . I am running straight right after the primary straight to the tips with the cherrybomb in the middle .

So by doing that it won't make the check engine light come on?

Me too actually, I've only ever heard it from the cabin. Wifey said is sounded like a monster flying by her at the track. I also have some of the drivers comment that it sounded great when I passed them - that is quite the compliment

Anyways, ya, I'll be sure to get a vid for you guys.

Are you talking about the chrome ones on the CLS? Try eBay, seen lots like them, in fact, I bought a set I didn't use.

It was thought to see any tips for all the t1ts....

I don't understand why the Cayenne was made in the first place... So I vote on the CLK. If you are looking for a sport utility then look into the ML or GL or even the Range Rover lines. Last but not least, the BMW X5 is a great bang for the buck too. However, I would still recommend the CLK, cost of ownership is amazingly low on our cars.

From what I can see in the 2 separate pics, those look just like the tips both Andy and I bought off eBay. I've still got mine sitting in a box, shipping to Oz might not be that bad from Dubai...
