newbie here, just picked up my CLK55, loved it soooooo much
i have been thinking, maybe i should lower it a bit & get a set of 18" or 19"s
hey, markem: can u tell me where did you buy the wheels? also, did u do anything to your springs? 'cause i dont think h&r can lower the car that much, maybe too much to my taste, any good place to get these aftermarket parts?

No, amazingly the 19's don't rub at all. The H&R springs are cut 1/2 coil in the front and 1 full coil in the rear ... I don't recommend this to anyone else cuz its too bumpy. I plan to get a better suspension soon ... talk to Harris on this forum for aftermarket parts ... he is extremely knowledgable

well, i gave harris a call today and yes, he is extremely patient and knowlegable, but he said he didnt sell "markem" those wheels + springs, what's the deal here? markem, i thought you bought everything from him? he's suggesting Bilstein coilovers and Carlsson RS suspension (if i want to improve my car's handling and eliminate the bodyroll), i guess he doesnt carry KW, thats why he didnt mention it, but i think KW are more for VW and Audi and Bimmers, anyone here has any experience with KW coilovers on the new CLKs?
whoever is thinking of buying any aftermarket stuff should give harris a call, i like his honesty.

I have a Carlsson Coilover on my C, and i think it is compatible with CLK too. The shock of the coilover is made by KW.
With the coilover, you can slam the front one about half the tyre. 'The back one should be the same as what u have now. There's a tricky bit though for the front one. U need to get a low wheels offset so the wheels clear the spring. My 19 inch has 37 offset and i have to put 15mm spacer to be able to slam it.

I have cut my spring before too, and trust me, my front wheels is totally slammed. Compare with coilover, it's way way different, coilover handle with authority, almost no body roll and grip the road like **** . Get the coilover, u won't be disapointed.
PS: U beat me to it, i'm going to get a black CLK with exactly the same wheels as yours .
Very nice car u have there mate!!!
