CLK500 cutting out at stop

Twice its gone completely dead at a red light and stop sign. I was sitting there and all of a sudden the dash board lite up as if it were in position 2 in the ignition. On both occasions its started right back up, but this second time it shows check engine light. Any ideas on what would cause this. I did a search but to no avail. Could it be the CPS (crank position sensor) AGAIN! Its been replaced I'm guessing because I remember seeing it in the car fax, plus we have the new style silver/chrome keys

NO LONGER ACTIVE
If the MIL is illuminated, get your codes read. It could be the CPS, but usually it won't restart until it cools down. Also, CPS doesn't usually throw a DTC. Was it a clean shutdown, or did it sputter? If it sputtered, it could be the fuel pump, which also may not throw a DTC, unless you get a misfire or lean mixture during the lack of fuel.

it was a clean shut down on both occasions. The check engine didnt show until the second shutdown which was a week or two from the 1st shutdown. The second time it took a few tries to get it restarted. Its at the dealer now. I'll find out more later today and I'll post the results of the findings.

The tech just called and said, "its the "CPS" Crank Pos. Sensor"
