The seller's ad says that they are for cars that have OEM halogen headlights. My 2007 CLK has OEM xenon headlights, and it got into a crash today, and I lost one of my headlights. Will your lights work in my car? Do you have an idea of why the seller says they wont work with cars with OEM xenons?
Thank you for your help!

the seller clearly states that they won't work in cars with factory BiX. the curiosity is only with regard to why not. I'm guessing it has to do with electrical load, since they come with a ballast.

You can use the headlight housing but keep your old electrical for the Bi-Xenon lamps. Basically the fishcake headlights have an HID Kit with the headlights, and the female side of that is for the standard halogen plugs. So you could basically use your OEM Bi-Xenon bulbs and replace the included HID Kit. Shouldn't be a difficult swap, and it would give you a spare HID set for either your brights or as a backup. You will most certainly lose any auto-leveling with these unless you do some serious modifications.

The ad says it won't work with factory xenon, which i assume means both bixenon and regular xenon. From what I understand, I think there are OEM bi xenon and OEM xenon available - both are projectors, both auto level, but the bi xenon has 3 connectors and the regular xenon has 2 connectors. They have different part numbers.

I've been asking around on more information on the compatibility issue, and have two responses, one from the seller and one from our very helpful forum member NsXTaCY168 (one who organized the group buy for these headlights).
Simon (eBay ID Fishcake321) says:
"If you look the back of your headlight, you should find 3 wiring to plug in. Vs. the one we sell has only one connector. So you will be left with 2 wiring un-plugged. Those 2 wiring is for auto-leveling. Our headlight does not have auto-leveling. And from my understanding, I do have customer with factory xenon model to use ours, he says the back 5 prong connector is a direct plug and everything works but no auto-leveling and he leaves the 2 wiring un-plugged that is all, but since I did not do the installation nor see it in person, I don't want to advertise that it fits on xenon model."
NsXTaCY168 says:
"Yes the lights will work for your car, but you will need to have the dealer change the xenon on (present) setting to xenon off. Reason is different voltage for xenon than halogen. Basically its done to prevent the error messages from the computer."
Since I broke one of my headlights in an accident, I think I'm going to give these a shot (and try to either fix or live with the error notifications). Really love the way they look.

I think the the ebay seller is not quite accurate. he is referring to bi-xenon. The regular xenon only has 2 connectors. So both "unused" connectors on the bixenon are NOT for auto leveling. Only 1 is for auto leveling, the other is for the bi xenon function. This is from my mb mechanic. I know my xenon projectors have only 2 connectors, and they auto level.
So there were OEM Xenon, and OEM Bi-Xenon? What's the difference, and what years/models? I suppose I might still have opted for the quads, as I got some info from Clkboi as well as the selling member...even if I preferred OEM I doubt I would have justified the price, but I'd still like to know how what I got compares to what I didn't...
Oh, and what bulbs are folks with projector lamps using in their city lights? in their fogs?

okay so these quad lights would work with a car which has xenon or bi-xenon lights right? we would just loose the auto-level feature?
Also Clkboi said that "OEM Bi-xenons are officially for sale btw" so he switched his bi-xenon lights with these quads. So these quad lights are plug and play for every single clk model except some loose the autolevel feature. right?
this is becoming more complicated than it is lol

lowpost, I tried to fully educate myself before deciding which lights to buy, but I didn't do a very good job! (just bought the fishcake quads from another member....)

Difference is the bi xenon headlamps use the xenon lowbeam with the highbeam for a brighter and whiter high beam. There's a mechanical function that allows the xenon light output through (from what I've read in another thread).
I know that bi xenon was an option in 04 when I bought the car. So since I did not opt for bixenon but specifically asked for the projector xenon lamps, I would assume the early models had both. Maybe the newer models only have bi xenon now. I don't know for sure.

hey guys. Im also trying to figure out what happens to the auto level feature? I have a clk 500 and was wondering if these headlights would work on my car. I don't mind not having the auto level feature working after i install these. I was wondering though if the auto level mechanism would prevent the swap in the first place? thanks guys.
Black or Chrome?

yeah. plus 1. I know the stock balast is stuck under the stock headlight unit. but the new headlights dont have mounting brackets under the headlight. idk where to place it lol. plus the whole issue of removing the bumper or not.... well you have to remove it. our headlights are too big to shimmy them out w.o removal of bumper. thanks guys

Do yourself a favor: change out the high beam and parking light bulbs BEFORE you install:
I don't know why Simon doesn't just include LEDs for parking and something whiter for high beams. Swap your fogs too:
Hey, while taking these pics, I noticed that if I had my fogs on with the low beams, turning the highbeams on shuts off the fogs. Is that normal??
