add chrome trim to foglights? possible?

this is a mod idea that pops into my head whenever I'm bored. I'd like to get chrome trim, like that on my W211:

..or the W204:

and trim it to fit on my W209:

Eddie, you could take your trim off, have it chromed then tape off the 'fins' and fog 'surround' and have it powder coated satin or flat black.

Interesting alternative, though I note it comes from "him who has no budget". They can "chrome" plastic? I had looked into having the plastic parts painted 744 Brilliant Silver and got a quote of $300 (both fog surrounds and lower bumper grille); they said they'd have to "bake" the parts or something, for paint to adhere. That's why I started thinking about vinyl wrap and gluing on chrome.

Lol, believe me Ed, I do have a budget. Yeah, gluing chrome on is a really good idea actually. You can buy those rolls of chrome 'tape' at a lot of automotive stores, you could cut them all to size then use a good contact cement to adhere them.

Plastic can be chromed. Just do a web search for "chrome plating plastic" and you'll see plenty of places that do this. Often, when chrome plating a part like this, they will plate the entire surface, then you have to tape off the chrome and paint with black to get the look you want.

I just finally measured the W211 against the W209 and the OEM W211 "chrome" trim won't fit. I'll measure the W204 before I look into "plating" the plastic, but that's looking more viable as I type. Can I just pry/pop that surround out, or do I have to do major surgery to remove it?

Looking for Chrome fog light trim2005 w211 E500

I am looking for this Chrome fog light trim for my 2005 E500 Sport. I can only find this type of trim for 2006 models and up. Does anyone know what vendor I can go to get this product?

How about seeing if these 204 fogs with LED strips will fit on our cars?

I'd love this. Been looking at them but not sure if they fit on the 209 bumper.

Why don't you just pick up a sheet of $20 chrome vinyl wrap and DIY? That way it's reversible too. Plenty of lambos out there with that wrap so it's automotive grade stuff, 3M and Avery make some and it's all over eBay.
