Tore Dash apart to replace Stepper Motor....
4 hours of work to replace one stepper motor behind the coffee cup holder....
Only tool needed was a Torx 20 bit...and a whole lot of patience.....
The hardest part; putting back the glove compartment and aligning it properly...
oh and btw, while everything was apart, I replaced all my RCAs...

dude, you're a star! I've had all that console stuff out numerous times, and I dread it more each time I do it!! (it seems to fit less well each time....) I didn't know the stepper motor was a CLK problem (had the issue in my C's; lived with it till I totaled one and sold the other). What RCA's?

Yeah, it was a hell-of-an-ordeal.....I had 2 stepper motor arms fail, so ripped apart.
I redid my entire audio setup before; but it was ran half-assed ghetto style. This time I used better quality cables and re-routed everything to make it as neat as possible. =)

Help please
I have the same exact problem on my clk. A clicking sound from the dash just behind the cup holder when i switch on the engine. I read in the forum that it probably is a stepper motor and if you could tell me how did you manage to replace it i would really appreciate it.
Pleace help, the sound drives me crazy!

Search around for w203 stepper motor replacement on the forum u will find alot of step by step guides. (w203 and w209 share a lot of parts, they have the same exact AC system, same part numbers even.) Then print out a w209 step by step guide to taking apart the dash and your good to go.
