Windows not operating properly

My car had been sitting for a couple of months and the battery tender did not keep it charged, so I had to get a new battery installed. None of the windows would go up and down without holding the buttons down. I was able to fix the driver and passenger front windows but trying the same thing for the rear windows does not fix the problem. Any idea how to get these working so they go up and down automatically? Also, while I don't think it's related to the battery issue, it's kind of weird that my left turn single the lever will not stay in the down position. No problem in staying up to go right, but to go left it will not stay in place when I push it down. Had no problems with this previously. Any ideas from other members would be greatly appreciated.

After the battery change, you will have to "re-sync" the windows.
Push down on the window button, wait for the window to go down completely and hold the button for another 10-15 seconds. Repeat the same to lift the window up.

You will have to do the same for the sunroof.

That's exactly what I did to get the front windows to start working properly. I thought it would work doing the same thing for the rear windows, only logical that it would. However, it did not work and I have repeated the process several times.

I believe the rears don't have the auto function. Thought I read it in the manual, and mine ('04) sure won't synch to it. Wish they would.

Yep, the rear windows on the CLK are not auto up/down. Why, I don't know, but that's the way it is!

The rear windows are definitely auto on the CLK, at least on my car they are. I've opened and closed them automatically many times, both inside the car and with the remote. Unfortunately this feature is no longer working now that I had the battery replaced.

I can close all the windows from outside using the smartkey, or inside holding the recirc button. But I can't synch it to do the one-touch from the driver's buttons. Maybe I'll try again. The R does it.

Sorry, the rear windows on the CLK do not have "express open/close" functionality. Refer to the owner's manual. It only lists express open/close functions for the front windows. However, you can open and close them with the "tunnel" feature (the A/C recirc button) or via the convenience open/close feature using the SmartKey pointed at the IR sensor on the door handle. Also, for the cabriolet, the rear windows can be raised and lowered using the tap-and-hold feature of the soft top switch. But they do not auto open/close using the switches on the driver's door or in the rear seat area.

Yeah, Jerry, I know! It makes no sense because the W203 (which the W209 is based on) has full auto on all windows. And being a pillar-less coupe, who would want to lower only the front windows? If anyone just absolutely must have auto up/down on the rear windows you can add an AutoLoc controller. I did this on my W163.

Oh, well, I don't know... maybe people who smoke cigars and want the smoke and ash to blow onto someone else's car?
