Brakes

Has anyone experienced squealing from their brakes? It seems that when I am approaching to brake lightly, then tend to squeal. Dealer claims its normal. I'm not hard on my brakes at all.

Any advice?

Same thing happened to my car at 6,000 miles on it. My dealership replaced all four brake pads under warrenty and that fixed it.

Brakes

Go Figure, I just flipped 6000mi and my brakes are sounding the same way. Is the answer new pads from the dealer?? Does this fall under the Front Brake TSB??

The dealer replaced the front brake pads, reluctantly, I must add. The original pads were still like new, but as a 1 time goodwill gesture, they replaced them.

So far, everything seems to be fine with the new ones.

i think this problem is very common

all my friends have this problem
the brake is very noisy especially when you try to release it slowly from a stop

my brake used to squeal a lot when i first got it
its better now at 4400 miles

Warranty

Is it true that brakes and associated parts are not covered under the warranty? That's what a BMW salesperson told me when trying to convince me that his cars are better in everyway, including the warranty.

I asked my MB sales guy and he confirmed it. Guess your dealership is showing a 1st time good faith in replacing them for free.

Brakes

Brake rotors and pads are not covered by warranties. Everbody brakes differently, but that does answer new pads at 5-6K. On the TSB for W209's there is a mention of Brake pads and Rotor Design, has anybody confronted techs on what they do to fix the problem? I am in the process of negotiating clk55 brakes and rotors for the clk500. Has anybody attempted this one?

Brake squeal is not a common problem. A lot depends on the temperature and humidity levels of your environment.

Had all rotors and brake pads replaced at about 2000 miles by dealer for warped rotors...rotors and pads are covered under warranty for defects etc.
