SRS issue..
Hi guys just thought I'd ask around to whoever has been through the SRS issue. I have a problem were everytime my passenger seat is moved significantly my SRS light triggers off. I know it's due to the shortness of the wires between the unit and the seat sensor coming loose and being faulty.. Anyway not sure of its true as I've heard multiple answers but if the SRS light comes on does that cut off all the airbags or just for that specific section (in my case, the passenger seat airbag)

As in all airbags? I was told only the affected section will be disabled.. I was told either a faulty cable or passer side seat sensor pad and if that was faulty only the passenger side airbag would be inactive but the rest would be still active ..
Still a safety issue though.. More money to fork out now :| lol oh well safety first I guess.

My driver's side did this. I was able to remove the seat back and manipulate the wiring harness to gain more slack and secure the connector. FYI, all SRS errors have to be reset - they don't "go away" like transient ECU errors.
Oh, and the SRS system knows what's wrong - the entire system is not disabled because of one fault like this one. Of course if the fault is more than just one squibb circuit,such as a defective control unit, then that might disable the whole system.

Ok thanks for that.. Well I'm guessing it might be my seat pad sensor as I had a passenger sitting down and the seat was not moved in anyway and still triggered off.. It seems this problem is common and happens to the left chair (when inside the cabin) yours being your drivers chair and mine being my passengers as mine is RHD.. Will get this fixed though.. Can't compromise on safety

It's annoying because you get it reset with the star diagnosis then it just comes back on again after someone sits down .. Btw very nice car. I done the same conversion myself (clk 55 front end to the clk 63) and it really makes the carole aggressive. Only thing though my car is a humble 320 lol not the beastly 500 or amg.. One day though ..

Probably because you had the upper control panel disconnected and switched on the ignition (maybe to test the radio?). If the passenger airbag indicator light on that panel can't be detected, it triggers an SRS error.

That could be the weight sensor on the seat, but it still could be the sidebag wiring harness. That wiring harness in my seat was so tight, I think just going over a bump could cause it to come disconnected from the connector. Like I said, get the specific code checked with SDS and it will tell you for certain.
