Has anyone had their windshield replaced?
Got a rock chip right in my line of sight. They tried the epoxy fill but there is a spider. Anyone have their windshield replaced? Comments?

Sorry to hear that, that really sucks. I've gotten mine replaced because of something similar. I was pissed though cause they scratched my VIN plate. Make sure that you tell them that if they scratch it, it will be their resposibility to fix it. Otherwise it's a pretty straightforward process.

Be very careful and specific on the type of windshield you buy. There are many 'aftermarket' ones out there and it may not fit right; it may not be the exact thickness. It may not be the exact right curvature/contour, which may result in wind noise on the freeway (this happened to my friend). I would advise against using these even though the price break may be tempting.
Then there are the OEM windshield makers, but do not have the MB star symbol stamped on the windshield. These are good and will save you a few bucks b/c you won't have to buy from the dealership.
The last option is to buy from the dealer. They are the only ones that can get the windshield with the MB star symbol. Of course, this will be the most expensive.
Remember that most (if not all) dealers do not do the labor themselves, they sub it out. So, the best quality and price combo is usually through an independent glass installer shop. Just insist they get the windshield made by one of the OEM makers, like PPG.
Lastly, don't forget to buy a new "Diamler-Benz" decal for the windshield.
