First, make sure the compressor comes on. If it does, then it could be a damper problem. If it doesn't come on, then it could be many things, ranging from a bad compressor, bad clutch, bad wiring, or excessively low or high refrigerant in the system. If you suspect the refrigerant charge is wrong, go buy one of those inexpensive recharge kits with a gauge and see what it reads. If low, then add coolant according to the kits instructions. If any of this doesn't make sense, then you should take it to a qualified mechanic.

FYI, the seals on the MBZ A/C systems tend to dry out very easily. For those of you lucky enough to live in cooler climates where A/C is only needed for a small percentage of the year, I suggest you put on and extra sweater and run it at least once a week. This will keep the seals "exercised" and prevent them from cracking and leaking.

Can't recommend a self-charge...it blew up in my face literally

Suggest reading this:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...imatronic.html

And though Rudeney is a very knowledgeable forum member, I cannot recommend self charging of the a/c. It was a total failure in my case, and MB has the tools to do it right...

Billy is right - if you don't have experience working an A/C systems, you might not want to try charging it yourself. The most common mistake is putting liquid refrigerant into the low-pressure side by turning the can upside down. Also, if the problem isn't low coolant, then trying to recharge it can make things worse.

If your compressor is working, and the hoses are getting cold, but the blower fan is not blowing, you have a bad resistor on the blower fan, I just replaced mine, the dealer wants over $400 for the resistor/regulator, I found it on line for $70.It takes about 15 min. to change it it's under the glovebox then removed panels use the factory red wire because the new one to short, Jim

It's been over 100 here for a couple of weeks and the A/C (and the cooled seats) does not work well in the extremes.

So I roll down the windows and apply the 382hp cooling fan....and all is OK.
