Balance Shaft Issue...
Could one of you gentlemen tell me if VIN: 4JGBB72E08A297955 is one of the problematic motors?
This is a 2008 ML550 AMG (I believe it has the M273 engine).
My wife and I love the truck but are unsure if we should be keeping it or not considering we're in a good sell time of the year.

That's a MY2006 - all 2006's with the M272 V6 or M273 V8 will fall into the range for potential failure. It's only MY2007 we need to check - only the first half of that production is affected.

I read something about some MB E350 models underwent a 'face-lift' in 2006. Do you know if this applies to this model? --> VIN number: WDB2110562B100725 and Engine number: 27296430 547057.

The major changes occurred with MY2005. There were some interior changes, butg also many changes in the electronics - a change in CAN bus protocol, switch from D2b to MOST fiber optics, and Bose was replaced by Harmon Kardon as the provider for the upgraded audio system option. During MY2005 and MY2006, they made a few minor changes, like adding the "beep" when remote locking as the default setting, switching to the "roller blind" style armrest storage cover, etc. I know later, around MY2007 or 2008, they changed the exterior to a more sporty appearance, and then in the final edition" for MY2009, the sport appearance package became standard.

It is a 2007 CLK350 that I recently purchased @77k. I drove it for only 1k miles after that and had to replace the fuel pump already. What do I have to "look forward to" soon? I may have not made the best decision buying this car.

You have M272 engine #470734, which is beyond the balance shaft problem range, so breathe a sigh of relief on that. Really, the only other big issue is the possibility of bad turbine speed sensors in the transmission requiring a $2K conductor plate replacement. But it might not happen, or maybe it was already fixed by the prior owner. Beyond that, just "usual" maintenance.

For a while, there seemed to be the assumption that if it had not failed before 100K miles, that it was good, but them there were reports of failure after 100K miles. Honestly, I cannot say - only MBZ knows for sure.
