I talked more to my mechanic and he said he should be able to do the muffler delete and add 2 res's. Im still torn between the Magnaflow muffler and doing Nardo's setup. The only reason I am hesitating with getting the magnaflow is because Im not sure if it will be loud enough and have that low grumble without be WOT and from what pufftrees said it is only louder when WOT and thats with a cat delete. To me the car is loud enough stock WOT ( I wouldn't mind it being louder... it can never be to loud ) but I want to to be louder down low. What do you guys think my best bet would be for that?

Im sorry I keep going back and forth and asking 100 questions I just hate to redo stuff! haha I like to get it right the first time!
thats what I like about my setup now, i wouldn't call it a drone at idle, just a heavier tone, and definitely not anoying. At acceleration it sounds like a mad animal and very c63 like. When apply WOT it isn't any louder than stock, just much more growling... hard to explain. releasing throttle at speeds will give you that orgasmic backfiring rumble in the exhaust... I'm absolutely perfectly happy with my current setup. Reading what u want i think my setup is perfect for you also, but 1 resonator will still give you a drone and will be louder at WOT. Try one first and if it's too loud ust add another one... I couldn't live with just a muffler delete, way to loud and just not very nice. Didn't even want to drive it haha. yes that bad.

I am doing a muffler delete and quad set up on friday, were do you get the additional resonators that Nardo is talking about? Would the exhaust shop just have them? Around how much do they run? Sorry too thread jack @ OP

Wow it does sound like its exactly what I'm looking for. I might try adding just one first. I would LOVE to do quads but I only plan on keeping it for 2-3 years so I always have to think about resale. I am definitely going to go with this setup as long as it doesn't hurt the warranty to much. I'll talk to them this week. BTW whats the start up sound like compared to a C63 and on acceleration how much louder is a C63? Thanks for all your help!

No problem at all Peydidy. That was going to be my next question! I was thinking about like a glass pack resonator possibly. Im wide open to suggestions though.

the startup sound in a c63 is monsterous and agressive... my video gives you an idea what it sounds like. I find it very close to the 2013 SLK55. nothing like a C63 unfortunately. the resonators were just ordered by the exhaust shop. All i said was its too loud and they added them. they cost me NZ$250 installed... so about US$200 or so...

Ok so I am finally taking it to the exhaust shop this weekend to get the exhaust done if I can figaure out how the hell to do it.

I would like to delete the muffler and add a resonator but since it is important to me to be able to return the exhaust back to stock easily and the muffler is a single in dual out Im not sure how to do it. I don't want to connect the tips to together because they would then be un useable when I got to reconnect them to the muffler. Any ideas of the best way to do this? Also, is there anything I should tell him to watch out for anything special I should know before I do it? Codes? Problems?

Thanks for all of the help and Im looking forward to wrapping it up this weekend!

I'm going to soon replace my OEM with a Magnaflow and was just wondering. Can the Boom-Mat be applied after the muffler is installed or does the muffler have to be taken off again?

There is plenty of room to apply it with the muffler installed. Perhaps a bit tight along the sides but not difficult at all. Sent PM reply.

Just made a little clip, pretty terrible quality but you can get an idea of the ferocity after muffler delete.

I had quad exhaust from a magnaflow muffler but recently changed to an X-pipe in place of any mufflers. No resonators or cats. Sounds a lot better in person.. not sure why the cam pics up the thumping sound, you don't hear that normally. And of course, it sounds sickly under load on the road. Need to get a go-pro lol.

I am glad this thread exists , I am in the process of doing this as well , I was simply going with an Eisanmann exhaust , I like some of the ideas here .

I am just curious , has anyone lost any throttle response compared to the OEM with a rear muffler delete and or any other modification?

Ok so there is no shop around here that is willing to do the custom exhaust I want because they are afraid because its a "mercedes". So I think Im going to have to go with the cutoff valve. I would put it where the stock resonator is now. That way with it shut it would be slightly louder than stock then with it open it would be a complete monster. my only issues that somebody brought up is that when I go to trade it in I will put the stock resonator back but the welds are going to look new so they are going to know I did something to the exhaust and hacked it up. Should I be concerned about that? What do they look at in trade in? Have any of you done something similar and then traded it in?

Hahahah sorry for the billion questions I just want to make sure what Im doing is the right thing to do.

First of all, find yourself a better shop - if they are afraid to touch a "Mercedes", then you don't want to deal with them anyhow. Second, you should never worry about trade-in values - because you should never "trade-in" your car - always sell it yourself or sell to CarMax. Dealers always low ball trades - they buy at wholesale prices and sell at retail.

I have looked and looked and the only shop i found that supposedly does good work on mercedes/bmws was a complete A**HOLE... I wouldnt even think about letting him touch it.

Yeah When it comes time to get something new (In 6 Months) I would rather sell it but as of right now it is the only car I own so I don't think I would have a choice... But if I choose any of tjose options is there any concern with the value of the car diminishing because of the new welds on the resonator?

I'd be less concerned that the dealer would see new welds than I would be about the paperwork they make you sign: There is usually a clause that requires you disclose any "modifications". And that doesn't mean spoilers and wheels, but it refers to emissions control modifications. If you don't disclose that and they find it later - even if a subsequent buyer finds it later - you could be held criminally liable.

Once again Rudeney your a life savor! thanks!

I finally found an exhaust shop that will do it and that i trust. Only probelm is he said they only "weld". He suggested cutting the pipe right after the flange that is between the secondary cats and the resonator and not mess with that flange and then do full custom piping fron there to the tips with a new muffler where the stock one is and no resonator. The problem is that brings me back to square one which is avoiding extra weld marks. Should i ask if he can weld a flange onto the new pipe so as to utilize the stock flange or what could he
