CLK550 Exhaust Mods & Texas Inspection
Hi all,
Any suggestions on exhaust mods that will still pass Texas inspection? Would replacing the muffler with magnaflow be a good starting point? I mostly want to improve the exhaust note, if i can make it more free flowing at the same time that's also a plus. Mostly want to avoid any issues with the annual inspection, and also do not want any drone.
Thanks!

Unless there are sound-related restrictions, anything you do downstream of the 2nd O2 sensors will be no problem. The so-called "secondary cats" are really just resonators. So, a high flow muffler and even things like quad tailpipes will be no problem (again, unless decibel checks are an issue).
Now, if you install headers and high-flow cats (thus deleting the secondary 02 sensors), you'll have to also get a corresponding ECU tune to deal with OBDII errors. And even if the MIL is not illuminated and OBDII readiness indicators are all fine, if they stick the sensor in the tailpipe, you could still fail. Do you know if the just use OBDII or do they also use the physical sensor?
