If anyone wants my OEM gray vents and round plastic disc thingie, let me know. I slightly dinged the plastic "chrome" trim on the side of the vents and bought a new piece -- also my plastic disc is fine i used a credit card to take it off. You can buy that plastic chrome trim on ebay cheap for a perfection repair.
or e bay link?

For some reason cannot load the photos.
Which part do you need, the whole double vents and the disc or just the disc?

Just curious but my chrome trim is flaking off my center vents. Looks ugly. Is there a repair for this or do I have to replace the whole center vents? (Which looks easy enough) I was thinking about nail polish? Any ideas or suggestions?

I have the same problem. If you find a good chrome nail polish that looks decent, let me know! The chrome trim ring on my cup holder is also flaking off. Good grief, it's 2014 - can;t someone come up with a decent chrome touch-up paint?

Out of curiosity I did a search on Ebay for chrome paint and chrome nail polish. I came up with 2 or 3 choices that should work for around $3.50 to $8.00

Those won't be reflective like real chrome - they will be more like a slightly shiny gray. A paint-on reflective chrome finish seems to just not exist. I really wish some smart scientist would come up with some sort of molecular "nano technology" to make it happen.

My piece is still in the box and I'll send it to anyone for shipping only -- so you can play around with it.

Looks Good
I just popped the center panel and wrapped it in 3M 1080 Carbon Fiber this morning

Attachment 286109
Can you add any additional notes or tips regarding the installation, please?
My first wonder is to your wrapping the whole piece and how well it seemed to fit back in place; especially with the areas that have the thicker chrome trim.
There is a nice company that has some very thick carbon fiber applique. It looks great (they sent me a small piece) but I worry about the fitting as well as when, in the summer months, it gets hot inside and wonder if the material migrates, peals, or bubbles?
How about cutting the pieces needed with enough extra length to wrap or for those areas that surround a switch or control?
Are you going to try this on the door molding?
Thanks, in advance, for any additional help and best regards, Evan

Because of the vent roller buttons, its going to be difficult if you dont have a X-acto knife to cut between the roller buttons. I found it easier to remove all the panels and wrap separately and theres a certain ways that you'll have apply your vinyl so your buttons fit properly without looking crapply. I wrapped everything with 3M 1080 Scotchprint Vinyl. As far the bubbling, the wrap itself has a sealing coat that helps reduce bubbling and i understand that the CLK turns into a mircowave on hot days but if wrap properly, there should be no problem. I cut 5in x 5in of the vinyl and just wrapped the whole thing ac vent panel. I honestly didnt want to deal with the chrome trim at this point (laziness) but the art is when you apply the vinyl plus with leaving a proper amount to heat and WRAP the panel. I left about Quarter inch all around the panel to stretch the vinyl. By doing that, its going to be perfect because you have to leave space for the "plastic connecting forks" to connect back in to the dash. I plan on eventually wrapping the entire car in CF

Another way for money cost is to buy your vinyl thats equally sized in dimensions. So for example. Usually a cars fenders and doors are the same in height and different in length. For example, If my fenders on a clk-class are 3feet x 4feet and my doors are 3feet x 5 feet. My best choice would be to go 5ft x 5ft so i can easliy cover those panels and have enough vinyl to apply it so the direction look uninterrupted because when i bought it using this method, i bought enough to compensate and adjust my pattern so it will look even and correct

-I was talking to my wife about this and i told her this, "everything within your car was pieced together, (the wood trim and leather, i dont believe is one piece on the steering wheel) with that being said, it must come apart in some way or fashion

Yeah but looking at the steering wheel, its seems to be all stitched in together behind the steering wheel so of course, you "shouldnt" be able to take it apart. The fact that they are not cheap doesnt allow people to proplerly experiment with them as often either. All we need is one brave soul lol!!!!!!!!!!

Purchased the 2009 CLK air vent panel piece from Mercedes to replace the sticky one that was on mine. I used a credit card to slide behind then a plastic spatula (George Foreman grill cleaner) to get behind that and pried it up and "pop" it came. The new one snapped in place no problem. Then I used mineral spirits to rub down the stickiness on the old one and it is now like new. Pictures attached.
