XM

My ride is 2004 CLK320 Coupe.

How do I add Sirius XM to my car? Do I have to change the radio? Any chance that my car is pre-wired for XM?

There is not factory option to add satellite radio to the pre-facelift models. That option wasn't accommodated until the MY2005 facelift. I'd just go with a full aftermarket head unit and add Sirius or XM that way. That's what I did in the C240. if you have Bose, it's slightly more complex since there is no analog wiring between the head unit slot in the dash, and the high-level speaker connections to the amp in the trunk (it's fiber) It just means you'll need to run your own analog wiring.

I've installed an aftermarket sirius sat radio in my 04' clk and it works fine!there is a member on here that installed his radio in the ashtray compartment but you have to cut, modify and wired the connection to the cigarette lighter.there is one piece that you will need is the adapter to connect the sat radio to the factory radio!you can pick one up from your local car radio installer.the part(antenna adapter) fit on factory radio of a volkswagen but I've got one from ebay for $9.00!

Thanks for your info.

I would imagine the Sirius sat radio is a separate box connecting to the stock radio. Where do you put this unit? Which model did you get?

There is no way to control an aftermarket satellite radio with the OEM head unit, but you can play the audio through the speakers and use the volume controls. the MY2005+ facelift models have an AUX input in the glove box (or if not, it can be added). Pre-facelift models will need an FM transmitter. Most all aftermarket Sirius and XM radios (the type that can docked in your car) have built-in FM transmitters.
