CLK ordering procedure

CLK ordering procedure
I am new to Mercedes-Benz and am not familiar with the whole ordering process of a car (I'm used to finding the exact car I want on dealer lots). Am I supposed to place an order for the CLK with my specific options before agreeing on the price, and wait until it arrives to negotiate? Will placing the order obligate me to purchase the car? I am currently in the process of selling my current car by private party, so should I order the CLK now, or wait until I acutally sell my current car to place the order? I know I have a lot of questions but I would appreciate any advice anyone can give.

It will depend greatly on the specific MB dealer that you are working with on the deposit. Some dealer will let you negotiate before the car arrives and others will not.
The whole deposit process is not binding, so if you do not like the car or cannot agree to purchase terms, the dealer cannot keep your money.
As far as selling your car first or placing the depost, that will be determined by three things: 1. If you sell your car first, do you have another car to drive in the meantime, while you are waiting for your CLK? 2. How quickly do you think you can sell your car privately? 3. How long is the waiting list at the dealer in which you want to do business?
You will have to answer these questions first, then you can make an educated decision on which way you should proceed. I hope this helps and Good Luck!!!
