Upgrade Car Audio in Clk 320?
I have a CLK 320 with premium HK speakers, but I hear a bit of distortion in the bass when I get up to higher volume. I want to spend about $500 and upgrade my car audio, but I'm not quite sure what I want to do.
- Should I get an amp and two 10"'s, or would it be better to get new speakers? I don't need something that shakes the car necessarily, I am just looking for sound quality (I listen to everything, rap, rock, classical, so I need good quality not just bass). I don't mind the sound I am getting out of my speakers, and besides the bass nothing really distorts at the volume I get up to. Also, what will fit in my CLK and where should I put it? Anyone have any experience? Thanks. (by the way, I will have it installed by Sonic Eletronix since it is just down the road and I don't have time to do it myself... will probably buy from there too)

I's put in-line bass blockers on the door speakers, and then try an aftermarket amp for the rear subwoofer (you'll have to use one with high-level inputs). That's about the best you can do for $500. If you want to get into the $2K range, just replace the entire system.
