2005 320clk - seats wont adjust

I've noticed that the driver seat controls wont always work and if I pick the seat up forward, the headrest wont retract.

But if I pretty much slam the seat back down, everything works fine.
There must be a position sensor in the seat base to tell the system the seat is locked? Anybody ever tinker with it?

thanks in advance,

Clyde M.

This isn't an uncommon problem. The consensus seems to be to slam the seat down to force it to lock. Mine dies this, and it's also finicky to release - I have to pull the lever up but push down on the seat. I keep meaning to take the seat back off and figure out a fix, but so far, I haven't made time.
