I'm looking at a 2009 CLK550 that's for sale at auction and the knob that selects seat memory positions 1/2 has broken off. What do I need to replace? Also, there are vents in the back of the front seats, and one of those is missing; is that an available part?

Unfortunately, the seat memory button is only available as the entire assembly - it's about $130 +S&H at parts.com. As for the vents in the back of the seats, so you mean the seats themselves or the center console? I'm not aware of any vents in the seats themselves (that sounds like AirSCARF, but that wasn't an option on the W209). Maybe it's part of the ventilated seat system?

I think it may be ventilated seats. I had a feeling about the seat memory button; looks like the door panel has to come off.

Yeah, the ventilated seats have a vent in the back for air intake. No idea if it is separate. Anytime something that odd is missing on a car I wonder "now how exactly did that happen?" The ventilation is nearly worthless, but it comes with the perforated leather seats which looks cool.

Ya i agree with Yidney about it being pretty worthless too. Had them on my 04 E320 and they didn't do much of anything (versus I tried my friends Lexus ES350 and the thing would freeze ur butt off lol). But the perforated seats are nice and the real nice thing is u get driver multicontour on the CLK with the ventilated seats (that is something I miss already from my E)

Removing= the door panel is no big deal - the R&R of the seat control is a 30 minute or less job in your garage. My only advice is to get a handful of spare door clips - they tend to break. On the seat ventilation part, yeah, it's odd for that to break, but my guess is someone just kicked it getting in or out of the back seat. My kid's C240 has a broken cover on the back of the passenger seat - it won't stay screwed in place. Her friend kick it when they get in an out of the back seat.

Oh, and I really wish I had ventilated seats - black leather with a black soft top, and a dark blue body is not a good combination for our hot Southern summers! My wife had a Lexus with ventilated seats and it did help, though for some reason, it always made me feel like I had wet my pants...

someone somewhere said that the seatback vent escutcheons sometimes fall out or in, so I removed the seatback hoping to find an Easter Egg, lol, but alas, not there. I did disconnect the headrest while in there, as they always drive me nuts, and when disconnecting the driver's side I saw the part number for the escutcheon: A2209140059. Have only found it on a Russian website and an Atlanta dealership ($13 there).
