2004 CLK 500 A/C Help
Have had the car a little while and I'm ready to make some Mods, but first I mist get the A/C in running. When on Max Cool the fan runs loud and still blows hot air. Could this be an issue with the compressor? Any suggestions?

Is the compressor running with the clutch engaged? On your AC control panel, I believe you have an button labeled "AC Off", right? If not, maybe "EC"? That button turns the compressor off, so you want to press that button so its indicator light is extinguished in order for the compressor to be running. If the light remain illuminated, then you have a compressor problem - bad clutch, or low or high refrigerant pressure.
If not, then it may be a duct problem, in which case you might try the diagnostic reset: with the engine running, simultaneously press and hold the front defog and recirculation buttons until their indicator lights begin to blink. They should blink for 20-30 seconds then stop. If so, then the duct actuators are working properly. If not, you have a problem there.
In either case, running diagnostics via SDS can tell you a lot about what is wrong.

In reply to the guru. Lol. Thanks for the help. I ran the test. The lights blinked continuously did stop on their own. So it appears that may be the issue. I checked the compressor as you suggested and the light turned off for the ac rest and stayed off. Any suggestions on the duct problem?

So they DID stop blinking? If so, the test past and the system thinks all of the ducts are working. If that was a typo and the DID NOT stop blinking, then you have a duct problem - only SDS can tell you which servo or actuator is bad.

They did not stop blinking. I hand to stop them myself. Is the SDS a test I can do or is it best if seen by a professional at this point. I'm willing to fix the issue myself, just don't want to end up in over my head.

OK, non-stop blinking means there is an error, probably with a damper control. SDS is MBZ Star Diagnosis, the official workshop system. You can get an "unofficial" Chinese clone/hacked version for $500-$700 on eBay. Some indy shops have it, too.
